#NigeriaDecides2023 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yobe, declared Sen. Ahmed Lawan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the Yobe North Senatorial District election.
Declaring the results in Gashua on Monday, the Returning Officer, Prof. Omolala Aduoju of Federal University, Gashua, said Lawan scored 91,318 votes.
Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest votes, Ahmed Lawan of the SPC is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” she said.
She said Lawan’s closest opponent, Sheriff Abdullahi, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 22,849, while the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Garba Umar, scored 7,210 votes.
Aduoju said Action Democratic Party (ADP) scored three votes even though the party did not field a candidate in the election.
“The total votes cast in the election is 126,677 out of which 122,136 were valid and 4,541 votes were rejected,” she said.
The district comprises of Machina, Nguru, Bade, Karasuwa, Jakusko and Yusufari local government areas.
Also in Lagos, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged winner of Surulere I Federal Constituency election held on Saturday.
Prof. Virgy Oneyene, the INEC Returning Officer for the House of Representatives election in the constituency, declared the results at INEC’s collation centre in Surulere at about 6.04 pm on Sunday.
According to her, Gbajabiamila of APC emerged winner with 19,717 votes while Mr. Bolaji Jeje of Peoples Democratic Party came second with 5,121 votes.
The returning officer said Mr. Mathew Idowu of Social Democratic Party had 838 votes; Mrs. Benedicta Uba of Zenith Labour Party, 660 votes; Mr. Ademola Oshinaya of New Nigeria Peoples Party, 623 votes, and Lumumba Savage of Party A, 337 votes.
“At the end of voting, Femi Gbajabiamila of APC has satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes and is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” she said.
In Edo state, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mr. Adams Oshiomhole of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Saturday’s election for Edo North Senatorial District in Edo.
Prof. Benjamin Adesina, the INEC Returning Officer on Sunday in Auchi declared Oshiomhole as the winner of the polls with 107,110 votes.
He defeated the incumbent Senator, Francis Alimekhena of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 55,344 votes
“Adams Oshiomhole of APC having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared as the winner of the election conducted on the 25th of February for Edo North Senatorial District,” Adesina said.
