Breakdown of Nigeria’s NASS 2023 approved budget

ASHENEWS reports that the total budget of the National Assembly (NASS) for the year 2023 is ₦328.11 billion.

This online platform further reports that a breakdown by #StatiSense shows that the monthly pay for each of the 109 Senators is ₦25.43 million while that for each of the 360 House of Representatives members is ₦12.04 million.

#StatiSense also gives the NASS budget items as follows:

1. Zonal Intervention Projects: ₦100 billion

2. House of Reps: ₦52 billion

3. Senate: ₦33.3 billion

4. NASS Office: ₦30.5 billion

5. Severance/ Inauguration of outgoing/incoming 9th and 10th Assembly: ₦30.2 billion

6. Legislative Aides: ₦16.5 billion

7. General Services: ₦11.3 billion

8. Nat Assembly Service Commission: ₦10.6 billion

9. Construction of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) Building: ₦10 billion

10. NASS Liabilities: ₦8.5 billion

11. Completion of NASS Library Complex: ₦7.5 billion

12. National Institute of Legislative & Democratic Studies  (NILDS): ₦7.41 billion

13. NASS Library Building: ₦4.25 billion

14. Completion of NILDS HQ: ₦2.5 billion

15. Office of Retired Clerks & PM: ₦1.06 billion

16. Constitutional Review: ₦850 million

17. Service Wide Vote: ₦671.3 million

18. NASS E-Library: ₦255 million

19. Appropriation Committee Dept – House: ₦165 million

20. PAC -House of Reps: ₦142.8 million

21. Hosting of Conference of Speakers of African Parliament (COSAP): ₦127.5 million

22. Appropriation Committee Dept – House: ₦125 million

23. PAC – Senate: ₦119 million

24. NASS Dashboard: ₦118.2 million
