ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has invited the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to a meeting over the recent redesign of Nigeria’s naira notes.
According to a statement by the Director General of the forum, Mr. Asishana Bayo Okauru, the agenda of the meeting is detailed titled “The Economic and Security implications of naira redesign and withdrawal policy.”
The meeting, convened by the Chairman of the Forum, who is also the governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is scheduled to hold virtually on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
“The discussion promises to foster participation and dialogue between various stakeholders including governments and civil society organizations to come out with a solution to the lingering issue,” the statement reads.
Recall that the CBN has released redesigned N200, N500 and N1,000 banknotes to, among other reasons, address currency counterfeiting, and also balance the supply of money.
