The Bauchi State Police Command says it recorded 724 cases and over 1,465 arrests in connection to various crimes in the year ending 2022.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan disclosed this while presenting the Command’s scorecard for 2022 to newsmen at an end-of-year dinner.

According to him, the achievements included 81 cases of culpable homicide and 184 suspects arrested in connection to the cases, while 209 other suspects were arrested in connection with armed robbery.

Alhassan also stated that while the command recorded 19 cases of attempted murder, 106 rape cases were reported and 129 arrests were made.

Other successes recorded in the period under review include 60 cases of kidnapping in which 157 suspects were arrested.

The commissioner said during the operations, the command rescued 53 kidnapped victims, three of their hideouts of kidnappers were destroyed and 12 of them were neutralized in a gun duel.

“Exhibits recovered from the kidnappers include five AK-47 rifles, one SMG starlet with 30 live ammunitions, and 145 live ammunitions.”

Other recoveries are three fabricated SMG, 20 local revolver-made guns, 24 fabricated Dane guns, and 20 cartridges, among others.

In 2022, the command recovered eight different models of vehicles, N16,659,000:00,

29 pieces of CFA French currency suspected to be counterfeit; 234 pieces of N1,000 notes denomination suspected to be counterfeit, and 3,590 pieces of $100 dollars suspected to be counterfeit currency.

Alhassan emphasized that these successes were made possible with support from the public through information sharing.

The commissioner added that the Command is fully prepared and ready for the year 2023 as more strategies will be put in place to ensure the security of lives and property.

“As we navigate towards the shores of the 2023 General Election and beyond, Bauchi State Police Command once again appeal to the Political stakeholders and their party loyalists to be guided by the dictates of the Electoral Act 2022 and other relevant Laws of the Land while shunning actions inimical to the peace of the state.
