The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Abia State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists has resolved to undertake an independent tour of projects embarked upon by Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.
The chapel made the resolution at its September congress on Wednesday in Umuahia.
It said the decision was based on the need to “ascertain, verify and authenticate” in real terms and independently such projects which include infrastructure, education, sanitation, among others.
The independent assessment, the chapel said, would also determine the quality and durability of such projects.
It further resolved that it would determine the capacity of the state contractors to handle similar projects in the state in future.
The chapel said the tour would also determine contractors’ capacity and competence and identify those with shady jobs and non-existent projects in the state.
The tour will cut across Aba zone in the south, Umuahia zone in central and Ohafia zone in the north and it is independent of the state government.
