i-Fitness, a fitness chain, says it is using its inter-branch sports competition to promote physical fitness, healthy living and community participation among Nigerians.
The organisation disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, ahead of its GameFest 2.0, scheduled for Nov. 7 at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere.
The event, themed “Different Squad, Unstoppable Together”, will bring together 14 Lagos Mainland branches and attract more than 3,500 guests, including over 2,300 i-Fitness members. A total of 689 competitors are expected to participate.
The founder and Chief Executive Officer of i-Fitness, Mr Foluso Ogunwale, said GameFest was designed to strengthen a community committed to healthier lifestyles.
“When we started i-Fitness, our goal was to build a community of people who choose to live healthier lives. GameFest is where you see that community at its best,” he said.
Ogunwale said the participation of 14 branches, nearly 700 competitors and thousands of supporters reflected growing interest in fitness and community-based physical activities.
He urged members of the public to attend, saying the event would highlight the importance of regular exercise and healthy living.
The competition will feature football, a 100-metre sprint, a 200-metre relay, a sack race and a lifting challenge, alongside dance activities and a healthy food and fitness marketplace.
The Chief Marketing Officer of i-Fitness, Mrs Olajumoke Abiodun, said the initiative encouraged members to stay committed to exercise while making fitness enjoyable and socially engaging.
“GameFest gives our members a reason to train with purpose and a day to celebrate what they have built together,” she said.
Abiodun said the first edition, held on the Island, attracted more than 1,500 participants, while over 3,500 people had registered for the Mainland edition.
She said the growing participation showed that people were increasingly embracing fitness as a social and enjoyable activity. She also thanked Brila FM and other partners for supporting the initiative.
According to the organisers, i-Fitness operates more than 31 branches, employs over 500 certified trainers and offers more than 40 free weekly fitness classes to expand access to exercise.
