The management of Northwest University Sokoto (NWUS) has alerted prospective students and the general public to a fake admission screening notice circulating on social media, warning that it is a fraudulent scheme designed to defraud unsuspecting applicants.
In a disclaimer issued by the University’s Directorate of Communications, Public Affairs and Protocol, the institution said the false message claims that NWUS has opened an online screening portal for candidates seeking admission into the university.
The university, however, described the information as “false, misleading, and the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to deceive unsuspecting admission seekers.”
According to the management, Northwest University Sokoto has not opened any online screening portal and does not conduct post-UTME screening or any other online admission exercise.
It, therefore, advised prospective applicants not to create accounts, generate invoices, make payments, or upload personal credentials on any website or platform claiming to represent the University’s admission screening process.
The institution urged members of the public to ignore the fake notice and rely only on information released through its official communication channels.
It also warned applicants against disclosing personal information or making payments to individuals or websites behind the fraudulent message.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and credible admission process, assuring prospective students that any genuine admission-related information would be communicated through its official platforms.
