Former President of the African Public Relations Association, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, has been appointed Chairman of the Nigeria Digital Public Relations Summit Advisory Board.

This was announced in a statement by the summit’s Convener, Mr. Segun McMedal, made available to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday.

McMedal stated that the six-member Advisory Board comprises professionals from public relations, strategic communications, media, and digital innovation.

He listed Emeka Oparah, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Airtel Africa; and Yushau Shuaib, Founder and CEO of Image Merchants Promotion Ltd., publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, as members.

Other members include Tolulope Olorundero, Founder and Principal Consultant of Mosron Communications and founder of Nigerian Women in Public Relations; Omawumi Ogbe, CEO of GLG Communications and founder of the PR Power List; and Dr. Celestine Achi, CEO of Cihan Media Group.

McMedal noted that establishing the Advisory Board marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the Summit, now in its 11th year.

He said the board members will provide independent counsel, industry insights, and strategic support to enhance the summit’s relevance, reach, and impact.

According to him, they will foster strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, industry advocacy, and professional development initiatives to advance digital public relations practice in Nigeria and across Africa.

He quoted Badejo-Okusanya, also Lead Partner at CMC Connect LLP, as saying on behalf of the Advisory Board that the summit has established itself as a serious platform for the profession:

“The Nigeria Digital PR Summit has built a credible platform for advancing conversations around digital public relations, reputation management, and strategic communications in Africa. As an Advisory Board, we are committed to supporting its continued growth and helping shape a profession equipped to lead in an increasingly complex communications environment. The future belongs to practitioners who can think critically, adapt continuously, and collaborate across boundaries. The Summit has a role in producing that generation of communicators.”

McMedal described the appointments as a key step in the summit’s growth:

“The establishment of the Advisory Board is an important milestone. The expertise and influence of these professionals will add tremendous value as we deepen stakeholder engagement, strengthen strategic partnerships, and expand the Summit’s contribution to the advancement of digital public relations in Nigeria and across Africa. We are honored to have them serve.”

The 11th summit, themed “The Rise of Digital Influence: Culture, Creators and the New PR Playbook,” is scheduled to hold in Lagos on October 15 and 16.
