Serious allegations of court order disobedience, police-backed land grabbing, abuse of office, and threats to the rule of law have surfaced in an ongoing property dispute at Block 69H, Lekki Peninsula Scheme II, Lagos State.
The controversy is linked to Suit No. LD/5991LM/2026 involving Advance Lincon Limited and the Lagos State Government alongside other parties over the ownership and possession of the disputed property.
According to a statement issued by the Citizens Rights Initiative and signed by its member, Semiu Olanrewaju, Advance Lincon Limited, which claims ownership through a valid Certificate of Occupancy and registered title issued by the Lagos State Government in 2014, has allegedly faced harassment, intimidation, criminal trespass, and unlawful attempts to dispossess it of the land.
The group alleged that officers attached to the Lagos State Task Force, led by CSP Taiwo Akerele, have continued to provide security protection for activities on the disputed property despite an existing order of the Lagos State High Court directing all parties to maintain the status quo pending determination of the suit.
The matter is before Justice B.O. Kalaro of the Lagos State High Court, who reportedly ordered all parties to stay away from the land while litigation continues.
However, the statement alleged that representatives of another company, Lincoln Advance Radiology Service Limited, have continued construction and development activities on the property despite being aware of the subsisting court order.
The Citizens Rights Initiative said the similarity in the names of the two companies may have contributed to confusion surrounding the ownership dispute.
The group further alleged that armed hoodlums, area boys, street urchins, and suspected cultists have repeatedly invaded the property, threatening workers and representatives of the claimant company while construction allegedly continued under security protection.
Describing the development as more than a conventional land dispute, the organisation said the case raises wider concerns about alleged abuse of police powers, disregard for judicial authority, increasing incidents of land grabbing in Lagos State, and intimidation of lawful property owners.
“The rule of law remains the foundation of every democratic society,” the statement read, warning that disregard for court orders and alleged misuse of security agencies could erode public confidence in the justice system.
The organisation called for urgent intervention by the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission, the Nigerian Bar Association, the Lagos State Attorney-General, human rights organisations, and relevant anti-corruption agencies.
It urged authorities to investigate the allegations, enforce compliance with the court order, and ensure the safety and rights of all parties pending the final determination of the suit.
As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Government and the police authorities had not publicly responded to the allegations.
