Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended an invitation to the Acting High Commissioner of South Africa for a meeting scheduled on Monday, May 4, at the Ministry.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Ministry’s Spokesperson.
According to Ebienfa, the meeting aims to formally express Nigeria’s deep concern over recent events that could affect the cordial relations between Nigeria and South Africa.

“The Ministry is aware of the growing discontent among Nigerians regarding the treatment of their nationals in South Africa. However, the Ministry urges the Nigerian public to remain calm and reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Nigerian citizens in South Africa,” Ebienfa quoted the minister as saying.
