Family Homes Funds Ltd. (FHFL) says it will deliver 10,000 social housing units by 2030 under a programme that will also empower 100,000 women and train 100,000 artisans nationwide.
The programme document, titled Social Housing Implementation Plan, was obtained by reporters at the institution’s headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
FHFL is a Nigerian social housing finance institution established to expand access to affordable housing through innovative financing, strategic partnerships, and sustainable development.
The institution finances affordable housing projects by partnering with developers, governments, and financial institutions to increase housing supply, reduce the housing deficit, and strengthen the housing value chain.
According to the document, the Social Housing Programme, scheduled for completion in 2030, aims to build sustainable communities and improve livelihoods.
FHFL said the initiative will combine innovative financing, sustainable construction methods, and strategic partnerships to expand access to affordable housing. The housing projects will be executed in phases across key regions based on identified needs.
The programme will rely on public-private partnerships to mobilise funding, facilitate land access, and strengthen institutional support. It will also provide affordable housing finance options to enhance homeownership among low- and middle-income households.
Alternative Building Technology and other low-carbon materials will be promoted to improve sustainability. Housing projects will incorporate passive cooling systems, solar energy, and natural lighting for better energy efficiency. Locally sourced building materials will be prioritised to reduce environmental impact and support domestic industries.
The programme will empower 100,000 disadvantaged women through opportunities created under the housing projects and train 100,000 artisans in construction skills to strengthen housing delivery and expand employment.
Host communities will participate in project planning and implementation to promote ownership and sustainability. Governance structures will be strengthened, and livelihood opportunities integrated into the housing developments.
The document states that the programme aligns with national housing policies and the Sustainable Development Goals. Grants, subsidies, and partnerships with development finance institutions will be explored to improve affordability.
FHFL said the initiative reflects its commitment to reducing Nigeria’s housing deficit through inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and community-driven solutions. The institution expressed confidence that the programme would promote economic empowerment, strengthen local capacity, and improve living conditions across participating communities.
FHFL’s mission is to provide affordable homes and create jobs by leveraging innovative financing, technology, strategic partnerships, and a skilled workforce to improve housing access across Nigeria. It also promotes economic growth by supporting infrastructure development and enabling low- and middle-income Nigerians to access decent, affordable homes.
