Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno on Saturday endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima as the party’s presidential candidates for 2027.
It was reported that the endorsement was unanimously agreed upon at a critical stakeholders’ meeting held in Maiduguri.
Those present at the meeting included Gov. Babagana Zulum; the Minister of Agriculture, Sen. Abubakar Kyari; Sen. Mohammed Monguno; Sen. Ali Ndume; and the APC Deputy National Chairman, Bukar Dalori.
Others were members of the House of Representatives, members of the State Assembly, former commissioners, local government chairmen, and party executives at the state and local levels.
Dalori, while endorsing Tinubu and Shettima, said the decision was collectively reached by stakeholders across the state. He described it as a clear demonstration of the party’s unity and the people’s confidence in its leadership.
Similarly, Zulum, while endorsing Tinubu and Shettima, assured of the state’s full commitment to ensuring APC’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fairness and justice for all citizens, urging greater unity to sustain development.
Zulum further expressed deep appreciation to his political mentor, the Vice-President, affirming his loyalty to Shettima, whom he said he respects more than anyone apart from his parents.
He, however, urged APC aspirants in the state to remain calm, noting that power comes from God, who ultimately determines leadership.
Zulum called on the aspirants to have faith, remain peaceful, and work together in the interest of the party and the state.
