The Ondo State Government says it has commenced the 2026 promotion exercise for more than 3,000 workers across the state public service.
The state Head of Service (HoS), Mr Bayo Philip, who flagged off the exercise on Monday in Akure, explained that the workers had completed their three-year waiting period and had been pencilled down for the exercise.
Philip said the affected workers were found deserving of promotion and had been invited for interviews.
He urged them to maintain good conduct and uphold ethical standards to ensure a smooth process and timely completion of the exercise.
“We appreciate the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for consistently approving the yearly exercise without skipping any year since assuming office.
“There are states in the federation that either approve promotions after many years or do so without immediate financial benefits. We have it good under the present administration,” he said.
The HoS, therefore, charged the officers to reciprocate the gesture by rededicating themselves to efficient service delivery, noting that their promotion would come with higher responsibilities.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Training, Mrs Olufunke Dare-Atunse, commended Philip’s leadership, which she said led to the early commencement of the exercise.
Dare-Atunse added that the HoS had always been considerate in handling issues relating to workers’ welfare.
She also thanked the governor for prioritising the welfare of public servants in the state.
