Dr Ozovehe Shehu, a Chemical Pathologist, has been appointed the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Lokoja.
The Ebira Doctors’ Forum (EDF) confirmed the appointment in a statement signed by its Secretary, Dr Moses Shaibu, on Monday in Lokoja.
The association commended the Federal Government for appointing one of its members as the substantive CMD of FTH Lokoja.
The EDF congratulated Dr Shehu and expressed confidence in his ability to transform the health institution.
According to the EDF, Shehu’s achievements reflect his dedication to service, advocacy, and the welfare of workers.
“The Ebira medical family is proud of your perseverance, resilience, and triumphant emergence.
“Your appointment as CMD of FTH Lokoja is a source of pride for Ebira doctors and the entire Ebira nation.
“We believe you have the vision, experience, and determination to transform FTH Lokoja into a world-class institution, achieving clinical excellence, research output, and institutional integrity,” the statement said.
The group prayed for wisdom, good health, and divine guidance for the new CMD.
The association pledged its full support and readiness to collaborate with Dr Shehu to build a lasting legacy at the tertiary health institution.
Dr Shehu was a past President of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria.
He also served as Secretary and Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kaduna State, Chairman of the NMA Committee on Remuneration and Welfare, and as a one-time board member of the NMA.
Until his appointment, Shehu was the Secretary of the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA).
He succeeds Dr Ojochide Ebune, who served as the Acting CMD.
