The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), on Friday, matriculated 323 students from three schools of the university for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Ahsenews gathered through NAN reports that the schools include the School of Health Information Management, the College of Nursing Sciences and the Federal School of Biomedical Engineering.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Medical Director, LUTH, Prof. Wasiu Adeyemo, highlighted the do’s and don’ts of the school and expectations from the students and their parents.
Adeyemo said the Federal Government had increased the admission quota into the schools.
“The school of nursing sciences that usually take about 80 to 90 students before, now takes 150 and above,” he said.
He stressed the need for the students to stay back in the country after completion of their studies to contribute to its economic growth and development.
Adeyemo appealed to parents that are financially buoyant to come in and help the system, saying that the government alone cannot fund education.
The Director of Administration, LUTH, Ms Omolola Fakeye, advised the students to be focused and committed to their studies, urging them to always represent and present the school in a good image.
Dr Olubukola Olawuyi, Provost, College of Nursing Science, LUTH, described the school as “survival of the fittest.”
Olawuyi disclosed that over 4,000 students applied for nursing, but only 144 students were given admission.
She reminded the students that the school has zero tolerance for examination malpractices, drug abuse and fighting.
The Acting Registrar and Head, Schools Administration Department, Adebowale Nejo, reiterated the need for the students to be focused and refrain from acts that were against the ethics and conducts of the schools.
On behalf of the students, Akinboyewa Moses, a student from the College of Nursing Sciences, appreciated the school management and their parents for being the backbone behind their academic success.
