Mr. Solomon Akwashiki, member representing Lafia Central Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Tuesday inaugurated a five-day free medical outreach targeting 3,000 indigent members of his constituency.
Speaking at the flag-off in Lafia, Akwashiki said the initiative, undertaken through the Solomon Akwashiki Foundation, was aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of less privileged residents.
He said the outreach would cover general and eye surgeries, consultations, distribution of eyeglasses and medications, as well as health education sessions.
The lawmaker reiterated his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and providing quality representation at the state legislature.
“I call on our people to take full advantage of this opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing,” he said.
Declaring the event open, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, commended Akwashiki for prioritizing the healthcare needs of his people.
“This is democracy in action — giving back to the people. I am proud of Hon. Akwashiki for this initiative,” Jatau said.
He urged constituents to continue supporting Akwashiki to enable him to achieve more beyond 2027.
Also speaking, Dr. Ebele Yakubu, leader of the medical team, said the outreach would provide surgeries, eye treatment, consultations, and drug dispensation, among other services.
He encouraged residents with health challenges to take advantage of the free medical services provided by the lawmaker.
