Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has hit back at former Sokoto governor, Aminu Tambuwal, accusing him and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of political betrayal and inconsistency.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Wike said:
“These are people who have been consistently inconsistent. When you are a consistent betrayer, what do you expect?”
He alleged Tambuwal eyed a Senate role if Atiku had won the presidency and accused both men of switching parties for personal gain.
Tambuwal, on the same programme earlier in September, openly backed Atiku over Wike, saying his choice was based on governance values rather than friendship. He stressed that past disagreements with leaders, including Goodluck Jonathan, were “ideological.”
The rift between Wike and key PDP figures dates back to 2023 when he accused Atiku, Tambuwal, and Bukola Saraki of abandoning zoning commitments. Still, Tambuwal maintained that political disputes should not be mistaken for personal animosity.
