Seven people have been killed after bandits attacked Magajin-Wando village in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday. He said the attack occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Friday.
According to him, the Community Watch Corps (CWC) intervened and repelled the assault, preventing further casualties. However, injured victims being evacuated to a hospital were ambushed by the same group, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which the CWC vehicle was burnt.
Mu’azu said preliminary findings indicate the ambush was a revenge mission by the bandits. He commended the CWC for their bravery and assured that government, in collaboration with security agencies, would intensify operations to dismantle criminal networks in the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and share information with security agencies to support ongoing efforts.
