The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment and appointment of senior officers across key command, instructional, and staff positions in a move aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the reshuffle affects a number of Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, and Brigade Commanders.

At the Army Headquarters, Major General AA Adeyinka has been posted from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army). Major General AA Adekeye moves from the Department of Standard and Evaluation to Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army), while Major General TB Ugiagbe, formerly with the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps, becomes Chief of Standard and Evaluation.

Others include Major General AA Idris, who moves from the Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps as Chief of Military Intelligence, and Major General MO Erebulu, who is now the Provost Marshall (Army).

Also, Major General EA Anaryu has been appointed Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, while Major General SA Akesode has been redeployed to the African Union Verification Mission in Ethiopia as Head of Mission. Major General JE Osifo will now serve as Director General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.

The newly appointed GOCs include Major General ASM Wase, who assumes command of 1 Division and Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Major General CR Nnebeife, who takes charge of 2 Division and Sector 3 of the same operation.

In the training institutions, Major General MO Ihanuwaze is now Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration, Major General KO Osemwegie takes over the Army Signal School, Major General AJ Aliyu becomes Commandant of the Nigerian Army Ordnance School, while Major General AC Adetoba has been appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.

The reshuffle also affects Brigade Commands, with Brigadier General M Jimoh posted to Headquarters 1 Brigade as Commander, Brigadier General NE Okoloagu to 2 Brigade, and Brigadier General AA Bello to 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 of Joint Task Force South South Operation DELTA SAFE.

The COAS urged the newly appointed senior officers to rededicate themselves to their responsibilities, stressing the need for sustained pressure against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats. He also reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of troops as a key factor in achieving operational success.
