The David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH) in Uburu, Ebonyi State, is working with the Adu Youth Forum Uburu, the Joyce John Cancer Foundation, and the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences to organize a free medical outreach.
The event is being held to celebrate the 62nd birthday of Chief David Umahi, the Minister of Works and an engineer.
The medical outreach will take place on July 25, 2025, at Eke Aja Hall. People will be able to get free health services like blood sugar and blood pressure checks, as well as screening for cervical cancer.
Other services include dental and eye checks, deworming, giving out free medicine and medical items, nutrition education, and general health awareness talks.
The organizers said this outreach is to help people in Uburu and nearby areas get better access to healthcare and to teach them how to prevent illnesses.
Hon. Odii Ene Ogbonnaya, the national president of the Adu Youth Forum/Cooperative, said the group believes health is very important, which is why they are running this project.
He said, “They say health is wealth. A healthy person is a rich person. We are doing this to honor the birthday of our mentor, a great man, by giving free health and social support to our people. We invite everyone to come out, get tested, and receive care.”
He added that other activities are also taking place to celebrate Chief Umahi, such as a football competition. He said the minister has done a lot for the community, and they want to show their appreciation.
