Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has firmly denied allegations that his administration awarded a contract for the supply of drugs to the state’s 44 local government councils. The Governor’s office clarified the situation in a statement issued on Sunday.

The statement, which was jointly signed by the Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, and the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, was emailed to ASHENEWS, and it categorically refuted the claims circulating about the alleged contract.

Governor Yusuf expressed concern over the spread of this misinformation and directed the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to immediately launch an investigation into the allegations. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, instructing the PCACC to report their findings as soon as possible for any necessary further action.

In his statement, Governor Yusuf urged the people of Kano State to remain calm and patient while the investigation is conducted. He reassured the public that his administration is committed to upholding the highest standards of governance and will ensure that any irregularities, if found, are addressed appropriately.

The Governor’s administration has made it clear that there is no truth to the rumors of a drug supply contract, and they are taking swift action to uncover the source of these false claims.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the state government in maintaining the integrity of its operations and the importance of combating misinformation that could potentially undermine public trust.

As the investigation by the PCACC unfolds, the public awaits the outcome, which will hopefully clarify the situation and restore confidence in the state’s governance processes.
