Former governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Abubakar has called on supporters of All Progressive Congress, APC, to be law abiding and protect their votes legally during the Bakura local government by-election.
In a related development, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 10, AIG Muhammed Mustapha has announced the death of two persons during campaign rally at Bakura town.
The AIG made the declaration during a media briefing at Bakura Police Station after he met with the supporters of the two major political parties, the APC and PDP.
According to him, one person was killed on Wednesday and another one was killed today Thursday and there are strong indications that more crises were being ignited if the political rallies were allow to go on.
He vowed that the police will not allow its primary responsibility of securing the lives and properties to be hijacked by some mischief makers.
The AIG further said that police and other sister security agencies will meet with all stakeholders to dialogue on the possible ways, to ensure that the scheduled by-election has been conducted without any breach of law and order.
He called on the people of Bakura area to remain law abiding as security situation is worked ahead of the Saturday’s scheduled by-election.
