The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team, PRTF, Mr Abulrasheed Maina to be remanded in prison custody till the end of his trial on alleged N2 billion corruption.
Justice Okon Abang gave the order on Friday, 24-hours after Maina was extradited from Niger Republic by Nigerian Police.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had applied to the court through the prosecution counsel, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, that Maina be remanded until end of his trial.
Maina had jumped bail and fled to the Republic of Niger and his surety, Sen. Ali Ndume also remanded for failing to produce him.
“The defendant is already on bench warrant having jumped bail.
“So he shall be remanded in correctional centre pending the conclusion of the trial,” Justice Abang ruled.
Meanwhile, Maina’s new defence Counsel, Adaji Abel asked for adjournment to enable him to prepare adequately for the case.
The case was adjourned to December 8.
