The Director-General of, the Nigerian Institute of Leather Science and Technology (NILEST), Prof. Mohammed Yakubu says the creation of the Ministry for Livestock Development will boost the Nigerian economy and reduce insecurity.

A former aide to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande has opined that with some policies already in place, Nigeria may not need a Ministry of Livestock Development.
