Climate activists in Germany have criticised major investors for continuing to invest billions in the oil, gas, and coal industries.

ASHENEWS reports that Nigerian government has plans to deploy revenues generated from hydrocarbons, to fund its $1.9 trillion energy transition, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has said.
The latest report by the Global Oil and Gas Exit List (GOGEL) has shown that 96 percent of the 700 upstream companies listed across the world are still exploring new oil and gas fields.
The governments plan to produce around 110% more fossil fuels in 2030 than would be consistent with limiting warming to 1.5°C, and 69% more than would be consistent with 2°C.

Protestors specifically targeted the China-backed East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), and its associated oil drilling sites, in Uganda and Tanzania. The protest also targeted China’s involvement in the Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone in South Africa, the Hwange coal-related projects in Zimbabwe, and the Cabo Delgado gas projects in Mozambique. These projects are said to be incompatible with China’s climate action and cooperation pledges to global south countries.
