Local authorities have confirmed at least 132 cholera cases in Yobe state, northeast Nigeria, with about nine deaths—a 6.8 per cent fatality rate. “The delay in seeking treatment has significantly contributed to these fatalities,” said the Yobe state Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana.
The Yobe State Government said a total of 132 cases of cholera were recorded in the state as of September 25, out of which nine died.
No fewer than 11 persons comprised of men, women and children have died of a fresh cholera outbreak in Ndibokote village, Ezza Inyimagu in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.
