The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, has confirmed Nigeria’s strong support for the Africa Water Vision 2063.
He shared this message while speaking at the 14th Ordinary Session of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) held in Dakar.
This was revealed in a statement released by the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations in Abuja.
In the statement, the Minister praised AMCOW’s leadership and called the Vision a bold and important plan that shows Africa’s hopes for water safety, good sanitation, and long-term development.
Professor Utsev said, “The Africa Water Vision 2063 shows the common goals we share as Africans. Nigeria is ready to work with other African countries to turn this Vision into real programs that help our people.”
The statement highlighted that the Minister’s attendance at the meeting shows Nigeria’s strong commitment to managing water resources properly and creating smart sanitation systems. These are key goals in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
During the meeting, Professor Utsev asked Nigerian communities to take care of their rivers. He warned that ignoring this duty could lead to serious environmental problems.
The statement also said that Professor Utsev worked with other African ministers, African Union officials, and development partners to support the Africa Water Vision 2063 and begin its implementation.
It added that the Minister was joined at the event by top officials from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
