The Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo has said that his administration will prioritize peacebuilding and poverty eradication if elected into power.

Adebayo stated this on Monday when he paid homage to the Emir of Lafia, Retired Justice Sidi Bage-Muhammad I, in his palace in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

He said that many Nigerians were living in poverty despite the wealth of the country.

“The resources of this country is in the hands of just one per cent of the population and it should not be so.

“It cannot be allowed to continue, as such if I am elected as the president of the country, we will redistribute the resources to ensure that majority of our people live above poverty line,” he said.

On peacebuilding, he noted that if elected, his administration will ensure equal distribution of resources to all areas in the country.Adebayo identified traditional rulers as an integral part of the socio-economic development of Nigeria. He assured that his administration will recognize this and ensure that they are allowed to make an impact.

“Traditional rulers are closer to the people and they live with them daily, and the people can access them without any protocol to channel their problems for prompt action.

“If the people are properly taken care of, it will go a long way to prevent most of the vices and crime we have in the country today,” he stated.

In his response, the Emir of Lafiya, Justice Sidi Babe Muhammad I prayed for the successful conduct of the 2023 elections.

The monarch also charged the aspirants to remain true to their wards if they finally emerge as the country’s leaders.
