The deputy governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Lady Emana Duke Amawhe, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to follow due diligence without fear or favour of any candidate or political party.
She gave the charge shortly after casting her vote at Polling Unit 006, Primary School, Esuk Mbak in Edem Odo ward, Akpabuyo local government area.
“I expect electoral unpires to follow due diligence without fear or favour of any candidate or political party and hold themselves by the creed that they claim to stand by, which is to ensure that the peoples vote count.
“The People are doing their part, we expect that as the votes are cast, INEC will not disappoint Cross River State, will not disappoint Nigeria so that we can once again repose our trust in that institution,” the PDP deputy governorship candidate said.
For the political parties and their agents, Amawhe enjoined them to act responsibly by shunning vote-buying, lobbying and every form of coercion to vote for a particular candidate.
Impressed with the peaceful conduct of electorates at her polling unit, she prayed for such atmosphere to be sustained across the length and breadth of the state.
“I can see security operatives though keeping their distance, showing their presence and hope that people will be bold enough to exercise their franchise.
“I also pray that as things are going on smoothly here in my polling unit, the same atmosphere should be experienced across the length and breadth of Cross River State.”
