ASHENEWS reports that the operatives of the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), on Saturday, intercepted 35 bales of fabric allegedly meant for voter inducement for the governorship and House of Assembly election, and arrested scores in Sokoto state.
This online platform further reports that the bales of the fabric, allegedly belonging to a principal officer of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, were intercepted by the EFCC operatives who were deployed to monitor the elections in the state.
The items have been moved to the Sokoto Zonal Command of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.
Similarly, the operatives in Argungu local government area of Kebbi state, also intercepted a suspect with a vehicle fully loaded with fabrics and other items suspected to be meant for voter inducement.
According to report, the suspect was handed to the Police Area Command at Argungu, for safe keeping alongside the vehicle and the items.
In Kaduna, while a suspect was nabbed for his alleged involvement in vote-buying at School Road, Unguwan Rimi Kaduna, an EFCC team led by ACE II Esmond Garba, arrested one Buhari Muhammed at PU 002 Dogara Yaro Dagari area with voter coupons, which he confessed was to be used to trace and pay those who voted for his party.
In the same vein, the EFCC team which monitored the voting exercise around LEA Kabala Doki, in Kaduna led by CSE Wakilu Omokida, arrested two individuals suspected of vote buying.
The operatives recovered N67, 500 with a list of voters’ names, their PVC numbers and bank account details amongst others on the duo.
Also in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, the EFCC operatives arrested two ladies and six men at different locations (Moscow Road, Elekahia Township and Mile 2) for their alleged involvement in voter inducement.
The suspects were arrested with A4 papers that had names, telephone and account numbers of persons suspected to be voters.
The suspects have volunteered statements to the Commission.
