Ex-governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun has accepted to chair the sixth-anniversary lecture of Penpushing Media scheduled for July 25, 2024, at New Marque Events Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
In a letter of acceptance dated June 20, Amosun thanked the organisation for the privilege.
The recipient of the national award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) in the letter also congratulated Penpushing Media on the occasion of the anniversary and annual lecture, with the assurance that he would be present at the ceremony
“I congratulate the Editorial Board, Management and staff of Penpushing Media on the occasion of your anniversary and the 6th annual lecture scheduled to be held on Thursday, 25 July 2024. I thank the Editorial Board for inviting me to be the Chairman of the 6th Anniversary Lecture. I wish Penpushing Media a successful anniversary,” Amosun wrote.
Chairman of the planning committee for the sixth-anniversary lecture of Penpushing Media, Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, earlier said in a statement that the theme of this year’s edition is ‘National Balance-Infrastructure Capacity, Diversity as Tools for Building Blocks and Good Governance’.
Akiyode-Afolabi stated that the planning committee has commenced preparations for the event, and will equally continue to sensitise the public on the importance of the lecture to good governance.
She added that the committee has started reaching out to members of the Penpushing platform as well as other stakeholders to rally around towards a successful outing, expressing optimism that all will be well.
The planning committee said that in due course other arrangements for the ceremony will be made public, including the identities of the personalities expected and their specific roles.
The chairperson recalled that previous anniversary lectures are a testimonial to the relevance of Penpushing Media not only in the journalism practice across the world but also in its impact on society assuring that this year’s edition will be another feat by the organisation.
The maiden annual lecture was held in 2017 with the theme, ’Social Media: Building Parameters for Trust to Achieve Political and National Growth’, with the late Prof. Oye Ibidapo-Obe, former Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), as guest lecturer.
Meanwhile, other members of the standing committee include Sina Adefolahan (secretary), Toyin Ogunbomehin, Gbenga Onayiga, Yemisi Fadairo, Adewunmi Alayaki and Remmy Hazzan.
