ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution to summon the Niger State Commissioner of Police and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) over lingering insecurity in the state.
This followed a motion moved by the member representing the Chanchaga constituency, Hon. Mohammed Abubakar, and Andrew Doma, the member representing Shiroro Constituency.
Abubakar, in his motion, had condemned the recent attack on the palace of the Emir of Minna, by yet-to-be-identified armed robbers.
This attack, he said calls for an interface between the lawmakers in the state and the security agencies to find solutions to the menace.
“We decided to invite the security agencies concerned to come and explain to us how armed robbery happened at the emir’s palace in broad daylight and they went away unchallenged.
“We want them to tell us where the problem lies. What do they need us to do as lawmakers to make sure that this does not happen again,” he said.
Passing the resolution, the assembly’s deputy speaker, Afiniki Dauda directed the two heads to appear at its Executive sitting to explain steps taken to apprehend the culprits.
