ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state House of Assembly has criticized the dissolution of statutory Commissions, Boards and Parastatals parastatal by the state government.
This online platform recalls that on Monday, Governor, Umar Mohammed Bago directed the dissolution of all statutory Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals both tenured and untenured while the appointments of all political appointments made before May 29, 2023 were terminated.
The Governor, in a statement signed by the Secretary of the State Government, directed those affected by the dissolution to hand over all Government properties, including official vehicles in their possession to the most senior Director in their respective organizations.

However, during plenary on Tuesday, while responding to a correspondence by the Governor seeking the approval of the legislators to permit the dissolution of the Commissions, Boards and Parastatals, the Legislators frowned at the decision, saying that they were not carried along in the first place.
The letter from the Governor was read on the floor of the House by the Deputy Speaker, Afiniki Dauda.
The grouse of the legislators was that they were not carried along in decision making as they heard about the decision of the Governor on various media outlets.
After deliberations, the members approved the request of the Governor with call to the Executive to always carry them along whenever such critical decisions were being made.
