The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has launched its State wide Free HIV Testing Services, set to run across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The activity, scheduled for 18th November to 1st December 2025 is part of the government plans towards marking the 2025 World AIDS Day.
This activity shows the renewed commitment of LSACA in expanding access for HIV testing, strengthening early diagnosis, and ensuring seamless linkage to care for residents across the state. According to the Agency, the exercise is designed to close existing testing gaps and deepen community-level awareness on HIV prevention, management, and stigma reduction.
The Chief Executive Officer of LSACA, Dr Folakemi Animashaun, highlighted the central role of early testing in achieving the state’s public health goals. “As we approach the 2025 World AIDS Day, our priority is to ensure that every Lagos resident has the opportunity to know their HIV status in a safe, confidential, and accessible manner. Testing remains the gateway to both prevention and treatment, and this state-wide initiative reflects our continuous commitment to protecting the health and well-being of all Lagosians,” she said.
Dr Animashaun noted that LSACA is working closely with development partners and community-based organisations has deployed trained counsellor-testers, adequate HIV test kits, condoms, and IEC materials to facilitate smooth operations across all designated points.
She further urged residents to take full advantage of the free service, stressing that the testing centres within the LGAs and LCDAs have been structured to offer confidential, non-judgmental, and user-friendly services.
Reaffirming the Lagos State Government’s commitment to improved healthcare access, the CEO also referenced ongoing investments in expanding HIV testing and counselling centres, enhancing community outreach, and intensifying awareness campaigns geared towards reducing new infections.
