The Kaduna State Government launched a family planning strategic plan (2026–2030) and its Cost Implementation Plan on Thursday.
Speaking at the event in Kaduna, Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa-Balarabe described the strategic plan as more than just a policy document.
She said the plan reflects a commitment to improving the lives of women, children, and families across the state through equitable access to quality family planning services.
Sabuwa-Balarabe reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring that every woman, regardless of her location, can access accurate reproductive health information and quality family planning services.
She called for sustained collaboration among government agencies, development partners, traditional and religious leaders, healthcare workers, civil society, and communities to ensure the plan’s successful implementation.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Umma Ahmed, said the state has taken another significant step toward building healthier families with the launch of the strategic plan.
She appreciated the Gates Foundation and all technical partners for their invaluable support in developing the plan.
Ahmed noted that the roadmap prioritizes stronger service delivery, commodity security, healthcare worker capacity, sustainable financing, effective monitoring, and increased community awareness and demand for family planning services.
“Together, we are strengthening primary healthcare, reducing maternal and child mortality, empowering families to make informed choices, and advancing Universal Health Coverage for a healthier and more prosperous Kaduna State,” she said.
