The Covenant Applied Informatics and Communication African Centre of Excellence (CApIC-ACE) has reiterated its commitment to supporting cancer research, innovation, and raising awareness in the fight against cancer.
The Centre Leader of CApIC-ACE, Prof. Emeka Iweala made this statement during his speech commemorating World Cancer Day on Tuesday in Ota, Ogun.
World Cancer Day is marked annually on February 4 across the world.
Iweala emphasised that CApIC-ACE recognises the devastating effects of cancer on individuals, families, and the global community, joining the international effort to raise awareness, promote education, and encourage action to combat cancer.
“On this World Cancer Day, we reaffirm our commitment to continue supporting cancer research, innovation, and promoting cancer awareness and education,” Iweala said.
He also commended the resilience of cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and researchers who have worked tirelessly to provide support, care, and solutions to the disease.
Iweala further noted that CApIC-ACE was dedicated to contributing to the global fight against cancer through research, education, and community outreach.
He highlighted that the centre’s research outputs in genomics were advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
Iweala called on the federal government and all relevant stakeholders to collaborate in creating a cancer-free world.
