The Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD), a Civil Society Organization, has partnered with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to enhance the visibility of UNFPA’s activities in Bauchi State.
This collaboration was solidified during a meeting at the Bauchi State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning, and Multilateral Coordination.
Under the partnership, J4PD will showcase UNFPA’s initiatives through extensive coverage across print, electronic, and online media.
J4PD plans to leverage the state’s official website by sharing editorial content related to UNFPA’s programs with Bauchi State’s relevant MDAs (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies).
In addition to online dissemination, the organization will develop radio programs aimed at raising awareness and educating the public on critical issues such as sexual and reproductive health, sexual and gender-based violence, early and forced marriage, and child spacing.
The Executive Director of J4PD, Elizabeth Kah, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting that J4PD will work closely with the State Bureau for ICT, which manages the official website, and the Ministry of Information and Communications to ensure that reports on UNFPA’s activities are prominently featured.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including UNFPA’s Gender and Reproductive Health Analyst, Deborah Tabara, Deputy Director of Donor Coordination from the State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning, and Multilateral Coordination, Muhammad Usman, and the Director of Information, along with representatives from the ICT bureau.
This partnership follows a courtesy visit by J4PD officials to the UNFPA State office a few months ago, where discussions on potential collaboration were initiated.
