Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, Lagos, on Thursday organized a programme for in-patients to mark the Yuletide as part of its Christmas celebration.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Ayodapo Soyinka, who spoke at the event, said the season symbolized love, hope and compassion, stressing the importance of celebrating with patients on admission.
“Christmas is about hope, compassion and the power of love. That is why we organize this programme every year to celebrate with patients during this period.
“This is to show them that they are not alone in their vulnerable states and to express our love and care for them. We believe this season of love will bring renewed hope of healing to our patients,” he said.
Soyinka, who was represented by the Director of Clinical Services, Dr Jane Bakare, reassured patients of the hospital’s continued commitment to providing optimal healthcare services.
He commended members of staff for their dedication and commitment, describing their efforts as a reflection of the true spirit of Christmas.
The medical director identified persistent flooding during the rainy season and the proximity of the Igando dumpsite as some of the challenges confronting the hospital.
“We recognize the commitment and dedication of our staff, who work around the clock to attend to the diverse health needs of patients,” he said.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Health District One, Dr Adeshola Pitan, who represented the Lagos State Government, commended the hospital for organizing the Yuletide programme.
Pitan praised the staff and management for their dedication and urged them to continue to deliver quality care and comfort to patients.
It was reported that in-patients in various wards of the hospital received gifts during the celebration.
