ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Zamfara state have agreed to join the planned Nationwide industrial action as directed by the National headquarters of the two labour centers.
The labour unions made this known shortly after a joint state executive council meeting of the NLC/TUC in Gusau, the state Capital.
Addressing journalists, NLC Chairperson, Sani Halliru said the planned strike remains sacrosanct as all affiliate unions are directed to join unfailing as a committee for compliance have been set up.
According to him, both private and public schools will not operate and all working places to include Hospitals, markets, filling stations, courts, motorparks, among others will be shutdown indefinitely.
“We urged members of affiliate unions and the general public to support us as we move to salvage the country and they should be ready as it may turn to Protect,” the NLC Chairperson revealed.
He added that pupils and students should remain at home because their security in schools is not guaranteed during the strike period.
On his part, the state chairman of the TUC Saidu Mudi emphasized on the unity of the two labour centers, saying they were united to fight for workers rights and ensure reduction in hardships disturbing livelihood on Nigerians.
“I am optimistic that there is going to total compliance as we have mobilized our people from the grassroot level and the agreed to join the strike,” the TUC Chairman said.
Mudi noted that the NLC and the TUC will operate as one entity during the industrial action.
