Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago has announced that arrangements are being made to provide affordable cars and houses for civil servants.
Speaking at the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration held in Minna on Wednesday, the Governor who lauded the resilience, sacrifice, and dedication of the state’s workforce, described it as part of his vision to improve their standard of living.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of workers across the state.
He assured them that his government remains committed to creating a more comfortable and dignified life for civil servants.
“I appreciate the perseverance of all categories of workers in Niger State and their continued faith in our administration. We are not relenting—we will continue to prioritize your welfare,” he said.
The Governor gave special recognition to teachers, praising their vital role in shaping future generations. He also disclosed plans to further engage with organised labour to fast-track the payment of outstanding gratuities to retired workers.
The Governor noted that the ongoing reconstruction of the state secretariat is aimed at ensuring a more conducive working environment.

In a goodwill message, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger State Council, Idris Lafene represented by the TUC State Chairman, Ibrahim Gana described workers as the backbone of society.
He praised Governor Bago for implementing pro-worker policies.
In recognition of these achievements, Organised Labour conferred the prestigious Workers’ Hero Award on Governor Bago, calling it a tribute to his unprecedented contributions to workers’ welfare and a model for other public officials.
Senator Mohammed Musa (Niger East) also commended the Governor’s efforts and assured workers that the Federal Government and National Assembly are working to ease their tax burdens.
Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, represented by Hon. Abubakar Gomna, reaffirmed legislative support for workers and praised the recent recruitment drive into the civil service.
