Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, on Saturday received the leadership of the Qadiriyya Movement in Nigeria, led by its National Leader, Karibullah Nasiru Kabara, at his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto.
Kabara led the delegation on a courtesy visit following the movement’s annual programme in the state.
Receiving the delegation, Wamakko expressed delight over the visit and described his relationship with the Qadiriyya Movement as longstanding and cordial.
He congratulated the leadership and members of the movement on the successful conduct of their annual programme in Sokoto and prayed to Allah to continue to guide, protect and strengthen them.
Wamakko urged Islamic scholars and members of the movement to continue preaching the true teachings of Islam while promoting peace, unity and peaceful coexistence for the development of society.
Earlier, Kabara said the delegation’s visit to Sokoto formed part of the movement’s annual activities, which bring together members from across the country to commemorate the life, teachings and scholarly legacy of renowned Islamic reformer, Sheikh Usmanu Bin Fodiyo.
He said the visit also provided an opportunity for members of the movement to witness development projects being executed by the Sokoto State Government under Governor Ahmad Aliyu, particularly the ongoing reconstruction and remodelling of the Sheikh Usmanu Bin Fodiyo Jumu’at Mosque in Sokoto.
Kabara commended the longstanding relationship between Wamakko and the Qadiriyya Movement, expressing hope that it would continue to grow stronger.
He also appreciated the warm reception accorded members of the movement by the Sokoto State Government and prayed for the continued success of the administration.
The Qadiriyya leader used the occasion to condole with Wamakko over the death of his daughter, Hajiya Rashida Ahmed Barade Wamakko.
He prayed to Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus.
The visit was attended by several Qadiriyya scholars and other prominent personalities.
