Gunmen Wednesday night stormed Kagara town, attacked a bank and killed a total of five people.

Ashenewsonline earlier reported here that the gunmen went in numbers and on motorbikes.

A source told Ashenewsonline Thursday morning that the bandits stormed the town on 39 motorcycles with each carrying three people. According to him, they attacked a bank and killed two security guards before proceeding to the town, shooting sporadically.

“Over 39 motorcycles with three bandits on each bike, well armed came in around 6:00pm, destroyed a Bank, killed two security guards in the premises and injured many people in the town. But some people and vigilante battled with the bandits through out the night. We need prayers,” the source said.

Another source, Musa Alhassan told Ashenewsonline that his brother, Ibrahim Alhassan was abducted.

“The bandits came and were going into houses that looked good, abducting people. I cannot confirm how many people have been abducted so far, but my brother, Ibrahim Alhassan was taken away. They stormed the town from Madaka axis from 6pm and were still in the town through the night,” he said.

Further calls put through to the Spokesperson of Niger Police Command, went unanswered.
