President Bola Tinubu has sought the Senate’s confirmation for the appointment of Dr Ruby Onwudiwe, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Tinubu’s request is contained in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpiabio, and read at plenary on Wednesday in Abuja.
Tinubu in the letter, said the confirmation request complied with provisions of section 10, sub-section one of the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment Act 2007.

“I am pleased to present for confirmation by the senate, the appointment of Dr Ruby Onwudiwe as a member of the CBN board of directors.
“The Senate is invited to kindly note that.
“It is my hope, therefore, that the senate will consider and confirm in its usual expeditious manner, the appointment of Onwudiwe.
“Please accept the assurances of my highest regards,” Tinubu said.
Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe is a distinguished professional who has made significant contributions in different fields. She replaces Mr. Orum Kalu Eke, who declined the nomination due to his engagement at the World Bank and other financial institutions.
Educational Background: Dr. Onwudiwe graduated at the top of her class in medical school and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her dermatology residency training at Howard University and Massachusetts General Hospital of the Harvard Medical School in Boston.
She is board-certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD). Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe’s achievements reflect her dedication and expertise in her respective fields. Whether in finance or medicine, she continues to make a positive impact.
