President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstruction of three major federal roads in Niger State, covering a total of 306.5 kilometres.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr Francis Nwaze.
Umahi stated that the approved projects include the 120km Mokwa–Bida Road, the 63km Mokwa–Makera Road, and the 123.5km Bida–Lambata Road, totalling 306.5 kilometres.
According to him, the roads will be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value, in line with the administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure nationwide.
He also announced that President Tinubu approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to link with the East–West Road in Rivers State.
“The project will be executed as a dual carriageway, constructed with concrete pavement and fitted with solar-powered street lighting.
“It will be delivered through a competitive bidding process,” the minister said.
Umahi expressed appreciation to the president for the approvals, noting that the projects are located along critical national economic corridors and are expected to boost connectivity, trade and development.
He urged Nigerians to recognise the administration’s efforts in driving infrastructure development across the six geopolitical zones, particularly in the delivery of quality roads and bridges.
The minister also congratulated the governments and people of Niger and Rivers states, as well as other Nigerians who will benefit from the projects, and called for continued support for the administration’s development agenda.
