Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal has sent a letter of notification to the House of Assembly appointing the deputy clerk to the House, Bello Tambuwal as acting clerk.
The appointment followed the retirement of the former clerk, Abdurrazak Shehu from service.
Meanwhile, the outgone clerk, during a brief handover ceremony, thanked all members and staff of the house for their support and cooperation throughout his stay in the assembly.
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate all and sundry in the assembly for your unalloyed support and cooperation during my three-year period as Clerk to the House.
“I indeed enjoyed the good working relationship and cooperation of all, particularly the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, House leaders and all Directors of the Assembly.
“Today, I thanked the Almighty Allah that I am handing over the responsibility of the assembly’s clerk to my successor, who is one of us.
“As such, I appeal to the members of staff of the house to sustain the support to him, in order for him to continue from where we stopped,” Shehu said.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Aminu Achida, commended Shehu for his commitment during his service in the assembly.
“We wish you all the best in life and pray that wherever you find yourself, you will continue to prosper,” he said.
Speaking, the acting clerk expressed happiness that he worked cordially with Shehu in enthroning the best legislature for the state.
“We worked together as a team and this led to our successes. This is based on understanding and commitment that united us toward achieving our collective mandate,” he said.
Tambuwal assured the members and staff of the house that he would consolidate on the gains of his predecessor and enhance an all-inclusive administration in the state assembly.
