He made the pledged at a meeting with 23 Education Secretaries held in the conference hall of the board on Thursday.

According to Kajiji, SUBEB under his stewardship will accord greater priority to the provision of learning and teaching materials in all the basic schools across the state.

This, he said, was in recognition of the fact that such materials remained key to effective learning and teaching process.

He described Education Secretaries as the most critical education managers at grassroot level hence the need to complement efforts of the board and the state government to improve the quality of Basic education.

Kajiji told them that the meeting was summoned to farmiliarized with them and seek their support and cooperation to achieve success in leading the board.

He further urged them to ensure prompt payment of salary to teachers as the board will no longer condone unnecessary delay in the payment of teachers’ salaries.

The chairman also told them that he had served as a classroom teacher and rose to the position of principal and would give emphasis on the welfare and output of teachers.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the board, Ahmed Ibrahim challenged Education Secretaries to intensify monitoring and supervision of schools in order to assess the performance of both teachers and pupils.

He promised that the board will not relent in giving the local government areas whatever they require for the development of basic education.
