Wife of the Anambra Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, in collaboration with Fidelity Bank Plc., empowered over 1,950 residents of the state with various items to boost their livelihoods.
Addressing residents on Friday in Awka, Soludo said the partnership was part of her Healthy Living initiative.
A total of 100 women received sewing machines, another 100 women received grinding machines, 250 school children received solar-powered school bags, and 1,500 vulnerable persons received food bank packs through the initiative.
She said, “This is not merely about distributing items or celebrating another social impact initiative, but about reaffirming the simple truth that when we invest in people, we invest in the future.
“Every woman supported, every child empowered, and every family assisted represents a step toward building a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Anambra,” she stated.
Soludo described the programme as a reflection of the power of partnership and shared responsibility.
She noted that the Healthy Living initiative, as a non-governmental organization, relies on collaborations and goodwill to sustain its interventions.
She commended Fidelity Bank for supporting the vision of improving the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable groups in the state.
“Beyond the empowerment items distributed today, Fidelity Bank is investing in human potential, family stability, and community development,” she said.
Soludo urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the items provided and become agents of positive change within their communities.
Earlier, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Managing Director and CEO of Fidelity Bank Plc., reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to social development and community empowerment.
Onyeali-Ikpe described the programme as a landmark intervention that brought together three of the bank’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives under one platform for the first time.
According to her, Anambra is the first state to benefit from the convergence of these three initiatives.
“Our purpose goes beyond accounts, transactions, and banking services.
“We believe that when communities thrive, businesses thrive; when families prosper, societies become stronger; and when people are empowered, possibilities become endless,” she stated.
The bank chief explained that the Food Bank Initiative was designed to support vulnerable households facing economic challenges, while the Lighting Young Minds Programme promotes learning through the distribution of solar-powered school bags.
She added that the Give Her Power Initiative supports women with equipment and resources needed to generate income and build sustainable livelihoods.
“We are not merely distributing equipment; we are creating opportunities, unlocking potential, and investing in brighter futures.
“Empowered women contribute significantly to stronger families, thriving communities, and sustainable development,” she emphasized.
Onyeali-Ikpe commended Soludo for her dedication to improving the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable groups across the state.
