ASHENEWS reports that Bolanle Raheem was allegedly shot dead by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, Lagos state on December 25.
This online platform further reports that following the incident, the Police Service Commission (PSP) has called on the management of the Nigeria Police to commence an immediate investigation into the shooting and killing of a Lagos lawyer, Mrs. Bolanle Raheem by a police officer.
A statement by the spokesperson of the Commission, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani emailed to ASHENEWS on Tuesday, described the incident as irresponsible and savage, and urged the management of the Force to report the outcome of the investigation to the commission for consideration and further disciplinary action.
While calling on the Nigeria Police to put in place, a formidable programme for further training of its men in weapon handling, the Commission noted that cases of unprovoked shooting and killing of innocent Nigerians were becoming worrisome.
According to the PSC, the Police by its creation and constitutional mandate was expected to protect and save lives and not to shoot and kill innocent Nigerians.
“The acting Chairman of the Commission, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi on behalf of the management and staff commiserates with the family of the deceased,” he said.
