NSCDC cooperative society holds ordinary general meeting, increases share capital

The Multipurpose Cooperative Society of the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday, held its Ordinary General Meeting (OGM ) for the year 2022.

The President of the cooperative society, Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC), Ade Ajayi Samuel explained that the OGM is a collective and interactive intellectual discourse, which brings bonafide shareholders and stakeholders together.

A statement by the spokesperson of the command, DSC Abolurin Oluwaseun, the OGM deliberates on salient matters of the society, including savings, loan, property, business, investments, agroeconomics, welfare and the recent much talked about share capital in the society.

Ajayi said the meeting was to consolidate on the gains of the society including disbursement of financial benefits to the society’s retirees and the next of kin (families), deceased members, achievements recorded in the period under review (1st to 4th Quarter 2022), Share Capital Increase, Defaulters and Ofada Land.

The Society honoured retirees including John Daniel, Ibeh Ugochukwu, Adeola Peter and Ogunbiyi Emmanuel.

It also honoured deceased members including Azubuike Chuks Cosmos, Salam Oluwakemi Adijat and Okomo Abdulrasheed.

The President disclosed that since its commencement in 2020, the first batch of beneficiaries received N416,250.00 in a program that was designed to ensure the financial security of members after retirement as well as to provide quick family support for immediate families.

The OGM increased its share capital from N10,000.00 to a minimum of N30,000.00 deductible within 10 months, between January and October, 2023.

The Lagos State Commandant, Edenabu Okoro Eweka who was represented by the Deputy Commandant of Corps in charge of welfare, DCC Marian Mbakwe commended the Society for sustainability, accountability, transparency and accessibility.

He also charged its executives to initiate better welfare-related ideas for members as well as clamp down on perpetual defaulters, whose actions have been noticed to be unwholesome and inimical to the growth and progress of the society.
