ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state government has pledged to include the families of fallen heroes and other military veterans in the state’s social investment scheme.
The Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this while speaking on Monday during the 2024 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Wreath laying ceremony at the Permanent Cenotaph, Minna.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Yakubu Garba said that the state was indebted to its fallen heroes and their families who have paid their dues in serving their fatherland.
He said that the beneficiaries will be enrolled into different categories of social investment programs based on their ages.
The governor noted that his administration will engage ex-servicemen in tackling the security challenges in the state.
On his part, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State Council, Mamuda Baba Ahmed lauded the show of support for the legion by the state government.
